Curse of the Pharaoh

An Archaeological Murder Mystery.

Some tombs should never be opened...

Welcome to the Valley of the Kings, Luxor, Egypt.

The date is 23 April 1894.

The excavation season is drawing to a close as the relentless Egyptian sun makes further digging unbearable. Just as the team prepares to depart, Sir William Saville’s archaeological expedition from Oxford University makes a staggering discovery — the tomb of a previously unknown XVIth Dynasty pharaoh.

The team prepares to celebrate.

But celebration has turned to horror.

One of the local diggers has been found murdered in the expedition’s items tent — stabbed repeatedly with a dagger still embedded in his body. His remains have been moved to the camel tent while suspicion spreads through the camp like desert fire.

Who had access to the tent?
Who had motive?
And what, precisely, was disturbed when the tomb was opened?

Old rivalries simmer. Professional jealousies surface. Loyalties are tested. Yet beneath the civilised veneer of scholarship and empire, something older — and far less forgiving — seems to stir.

Some whisper of curses.
Others insist the explanation is entirely human.

Before the night is through, the truth must be unearthed.
